Vai balrogi var lidot?, Beidzot arī latviski!! Opcijas

Laipni lūdzam nebeizamajā diskusijā par tēmu, kas Tolkīna fanu pasaulē aizsākās jau dažus gadus atpakaļ :
"Vai Balrogi var lidot?"

Lūdzu savu viedokli pamatot, nevis sūtīt atbildes “Jā, var/nē, (ne)var. Tapēc, ka man tā liekas. (IMG:http://www.kurbijkurne.lv/forums/style_emoticons/kurb_gaiss/tongue.gif) “ lai šī būtu diskusija un nepārvērstos par nejēdzīgu spamošanu.

Tātad, kāpēc virsrakstā nav uzsvērts jautājums, vai viņiem bija spārni?
To, ka viņiem bija spārni, Tolkīns pasaka FOTR:

"The Balrog made no answer. The fire in it seemed to die, but the darkness grew. It stepped forward slowly on to the bridge, and suddenly it drew itself up to a great height, and its wings were spread from wall to wall..."

Un tad vēl aina:

"Soon it appeared as a great winged creature, blacker than the pits in the night. Fierce voices rose up to greet it from across the water. Frodo felt a sudden chill running through him and clutching at his heart; there was a deadly cold, like the memory of an old wound, in his shoulder.

Kurai vēlāk seko dialogs starp Leogolasu, Gimli un Frodo:

'But who can say what it hit?' said Legolas.
'I cannot,' said Gimli. `But I am glad that the shadow came no nearer. I liked it not at all. Too much it reminded me of the shadow in Moria - the shadow of the Balrog,' he ended in a whisper.
'It was not a Balrog,' said Frodo, still shivering with the chill that had come upon him. 'It was something colder. I think it was -' Then he paused and fell silent."

Kurai gan nav tieša sakara ar Balrogiem, jo runa ir par spārnotu Nazgulu, bet fakts, ka Gimli spārnotā figūra atgādināja Balrogu, norāda, ka tam, ko Gimli atcerējās(resp., Balrogam) bija spārni.
Līdz ar to jautājums, vai Balrogiem ir spārni vairs nav tik interesants(varat gan mēģināt to apstrīdēt (IMG:http://www.kurbijkurne.lv/forums/style_emoticons/kurb_gaiss/whistling.gif) ) kā jautājums, vai viņi tos praktiski izmantoja - vai viņi lidoja.


Aizstāvu viedokli, ka šīs Tolkīna radības tomēr varēja lidot, jo nereti Tolkīns savos darbos saistībā ar Balrogiem lieto apzīmējumus “spārnots”, kā piemēram,

"swiftly they arose, and they passed with winged speed over Hithlum, they came to Lammoth as a tempest of fire."

Kā rakstīja pats Tolkīns, vai arī tās pašas rindas, kas rodamas Silmarillionā, bet tās rediģējis viņa dēls Kristofers:

” Swiftly they arose, and they passed with winged speed over Hithlum, and they came to Lammoth as a tempest of fire."

Tolkīna oriģināltekstā tomēr vairāk jaušama doma, ka “pass over” ir domāts kā “lidot” un “winged speed” diez vai ir tāpat vien izvēlēts, lai apzīmētu Balrogu ātrumu. Tas drīzāk norāda uz to, ka Balrogiem piemita spēja lidot.

Sāksim ar tiem citātiem, kas itkā pierāda Balrogu spārnu esamību. Kā redzu, domas par to, vai tā ir metafora vai nav, dalās un nekas nav viennozīmīgs, tomēr pats es joprojām uzskatu, ka tā tomēr ir metafora! Redzi, Tolkīns visai bieži izmantojis šāda veida metaforas - sākumā pasaka kādu apgalvojumu un vēlāk izsaka kādu piebildi, kas parāda, ka iepriekš minētais apgalvojums domāts pārnestā nozīmē. Tā tas, manuprāt bijis arī šo te spārnu sakarā!

Te ir daži piemēri ar līdzīgām metaforām -

"Before his feet they saw a large round hole like the mouth of a well. Broken and rusty chains lay at the edge and trailed down into the black pit. Fragments of stone lay near.

'One of you might have fallen in and still be wondering when you were going to strike the bottom,' said Aragorn to Merry. 'Let the guide go first while you have one.'

'This seems to have been a guardroom, made for the watching of the three passages,' said Gimli. `That hole was plainly a well for the guards' use, covered with a stone lid."

Sākumā visi ieraudzīja caurumu, par kura izcelsmi nebija īsti droši, vēlāk, pieejot tuvāk, tie saprata, ka tā patiesi ir aka. - (līdzīgi ar spārniem - sākumā šķita, ka tie ir īsti spārni, vēlāk saprata, ka tikai ēna..)

"Suddenly a shadow, like the shape of great wings, passed across the moon. The figure lifted his arms and a light flashed from the staff that he wielded. A mighty eagle swept down and bore him away."

Sākumā ieraudzīja tumšu apveidu (neskaidru), kas izskatījās pēc spārniem, vēlāk atklāja, ka tas ir ērglis... (līdzīgi bija mums svarīgajā citātā)

Runājot par Gimli, zinot to, ka Tolkīns vispār mīlējis attēlot Balrogus kā tumšas ēnas, nav nemaz jābrīnās, ka redzot šo ēnu, nabaga rūķis tūliņ iedomājās Balrogu...

Runājot par gadījumiem, kad balrogi attēloti kā pa zemi staigājošas būtnes mēs atkal sastopamies ar interpretācijas problēmām, tāpēc tālākas diskusijas par šiem te notikumiem uzskatu par bezjēdzīgām... Man vienkārši šķiet savādi, ka šajās daudzajās cīņās balrogi nekad neizmanto savu tik lielisko ieroci - lidotprasmi... Tad jau laikam šie lidot nemaz neprata... Atgriezīsimies labāk pie kāda cita citāta, kuru Elf tik ātri "norakstīja" (nepamatoti), un kurš, manuprāt, pilnībā pierāda faktu, ka balrogi lidot neprata!

Elf sacītais, ka balrogus nevarot nemaz īsti saukt par Melkora radībām, ir aplams un to pierāda paša Tolkīna sacītais:

"One of the reasons for his self-weakening is that he [Melkor] has given to his 'creatures', Orcs, Balrogs, etc. power of recuperation and multiplication. So that they will gather again without further specific orders. Part of his native creative power has gone out into making an independent evil growth out of his control."

"It will there be seen that the wills of Orcs and Balrogs etc. are part of Melkor's power 'dispersed'. Their spirit is one of hate. But hate is non-cooperative (except under direct fear). Hence the rebellions, mutinies, etc. when Morgoth seems far off. Orcs are beasts and Balrogs corrupted Maiar."

Tātad Balrogi ir Melkora tumšās radības un, ņemot vērā, ka pūķi bija pirmie, kas lidoja, balrogi lidot nespēj!!!

Runājot par Gondolinas balrogiem, šķiet, ka Elf īsti nesaprata mani.. jeb pārprata... Es nerunāju konkrēti par Glorfindela balrogu (jeb Echtaliona.. nezinu par kuru tu runā... (IMG:http://www.kurbijkurne.lv/forums/style_emoticons/kurb_gaiss/huh.gif) ), bet gan par citiem balrogiem, kas piedalījās šajā kaujā... Ir skaidri izstāstīts, ka, lai varētu pāršaut bultas pāri sienai, balrogi rāpās pūķiem mugurā... bet vēlāk, kad notika balrogu apsaktēšana (uzradās elfu pulks), balrogi nez kāpēc nebēga projām, kaut arī nebija ievainoti un gaisa telpas bija diezgan...

"Then the Balrogs continued to shoot darts of fire and flaming arrows like small snakes into the sky, and these fell upon the roofs and gardens of Gondolin till all the trees were scorched, and the flowers and grass burned up, and the whiteness of those walls and colonnades was blackened and seared: yet a worse matter was it that a company of those demons climbed upon the coils of the serpents of iron and thence loosed unceasingly from their bows and slings till a fire began to burn in the city to the back of the main army of the defenders.

Vai tiešām Morijas Balrogam nevajadzēja glābties??? Tad kāpēc tas kliedza, krītot iekšā?

Laikam jau tas izbijās, un jautājums, kādēļ nenositās, paliek atklāts...

Jebkurā gadījumā, uzskatu, ka ar manis minētajiem pierādījumiem pilnībā pietiek, lai pamatotu, ka Balrogi lidot nespēja!!!!
