Sveiki! Es esmu no Polija un... I want to make a connection with people from latvian fantasy movement. I do project in Sece (small village in Aizkraukles Rajons) and I want make there some LARPs. Do you make LARPs only for boofed swords? Cause IMHO isn't wooden or textolite (don't know how to spell it) better?

I think it would be wise to exchange know-how of boofed weapon crafting and yielding. Maybe you could attend to a boofed sword making workshop this weekend in Ikskile, Rigas raj.? There would be plenty of Latvian "larp" and specifically "boofed larp" people. Other than that every weekend, Saturday some of us gather for a boofed weapon fight trainings. That happens in Riga as well.

It's not that hard and expensive to get from Aizkraukle to Riga with train. Most of the larpers in Latvia are found in Riga, that's where you should look for them.

Sveiki! Unfortunetelly I could not to be there... and next weekend I will also busy because I organize highland games in my village (you know - pale throwing, man in kilts etc.) but future is open:) I think we can make some exchange of experiences:)

About "boofed swords"... I thing this way is the best because there is not many contusions on a LARPs. In fact we started from this but in past where was other system in Poland (in my opinion very stupid). Now "boofed swords" ale in majority and we do not use wooden swords... (but in Czech Republic yes).

Are there ruins of first christian church near this Ikskile? Am I right? Do you do there LARPs (in Ikskile - not in church)?

PS. That I wrote I will organize scotch games in my village in this saturday but I completly forgot that then will be Baltais Saule!!! I will lose great event! Do you know, is there in Latvia some party like Baltais Saule in other time (from october '06 to may '07)?

Are there ruins of first christian church near this Ikskile? Am I right? Do you do there LARPs?

Right you are. Ruins are on a small island which is time to time accesible when HES (hydroelectrostation) lowers the water level. But usually it is unreachable without a boat. We do not organize LARPs there because the place is unsuitable for this purpose -- small, nearby town, private properties very close to the site and lack of feeling. Too much industrialized area for fantasy LARPs.

Concerning the 23-24 of september... well, that night we (some of us) are organizing a small one-shot WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) style storyLARP with very few PCs and lots of NPCs, not far from Riga, on a lake's island. Actually, I guess, if you want to see what LARPs we make, you are sincerly invited to this event.

Unluckily during this weekend is going to be a boofed LARP Woolfsong, which means that most likely the majority of those who are interested in boofed workshop will be there. Though I might be mistaken.

My target to this weekend in fact is one party in Liepaja but... I one day I can go on a LARP or workshop if it is not in Latgale vai Vidzeme because it is not my direction. I am very interesting how it (LARP movement) looks in Latvia.

Yes it is Vidzeme... and Liepaja is not in this direction...

But We can meet some day in Riga in some place (tavern:) and parunat about LARPs. Sometimes I am in Riga (expecially in weekends).

And as I said I have some idea to make LARP in Riiga. I know one very interesting place - Lielie Kapi... (now it is a park) and I have some night-larp scenario with some vampires lord:) I did this LARP in Czech Rep. and was very good:)

Jā. Oficiāli. "Labiekārtošana 1967.gadā". Novācam visu kapu virspusi un atļaujam skraidīt suņiem un nejēgām. Parks tiem, kas neciena vēsturi un kam ir vienalga, ka visā teritorijā tur ir apbedījumi. Tiem, kam patīk palēkāt uz citu kauliem. Nemaz ne tik veciem. Vairākas kapličas pieder joprojām esošām un dzīvām dzimtām.
Vienīgais - tas nav tikai parks. Tas ir memoriālais parks. Protams, ir jau vienalga, vai ne, ja vajag tēlot krutos vampīrus?

Kapēc, lai spēlētu vampīrlarpus nepieciešami kapi?
Es tomēr kapos, lai arī pārveidotos par parkiem, naktīs jūtos neomulīgi.

Lai radītu settingu nav nepieciešama vieta, kas atbilst reālās dzīves vietai. Tad jau fantasy larpus mums vajadzētu rīkot Rundāles pilī un sazin vēl kādās muižās.

Ok. Atskaitot faktu, ka LARP'i more or less sux, kāpēc, lai nevarētu LARP'oties kapos?
Ar ko kapi atšķiras no kaut kāda meža? Vai parka? Ar to, ka tur apakšā pūst līķi? Big deal. Tepat Rīgas rajonos, kas izveidojušies pēc 17. gs. ir pagrūti atrast vietu, zem kuras kāds nebūtu veiksmīgi norakts.
Ja Tīreļpurvā, zem kura par barību tārpiem ir kļuvuši neskaitāmi cilvēki, tantiņas var pilnīgā ````ā lasīt sēnes, kāpēc, lai bariņš dīvaini tērptu, gārdzošu cilvēku ar putopolietelēna tamponiem roķelēs nevarētu taisīt savu lomu atspēlēšanu kapos? Turklāt tādos, kuriem jau sen ir piešķirts parka statuss. Neviens taču negrasās tos miroņus rakt laukā, apkaisīt ar sāli un pārabedīt nepareizajās vietās just for some sick sense of fun.

es vēlreiz saku - tas ir rīgas centrs. tur blakus dzīvo cilvēki, kuri, lai gan paši piedalijušies larpos, ļooooti iebilstu, ja pie viņu daudzstāvenēm/privātmājām rīkotu larpu *rāda uz sevi*
es vienkārši nesaprotu kā var šķist interesanta ideja rīkot larpu
-tik apdzīvotā vietā, bez tam tā vieta ir iekļauta t.s. Zemes mātes projektā.-
..un vispār kapos. var vienkārši paņemt sastādīt krustus kādā pļavā/mežā - re, šeit tagad būs kapi, baidamies XD

Ta nu gan ņematies. Tāpat ir skaidrs, ka LARPu lielajos kapos neviens nerīkos. Kaut arī protams teorētiski var apspriest.

Savukārt runājam no teorētiskās puses par kapu apgānīšanu, tad apgānīšana skaitās kādos tur noteiktos likumā atrunātos gadījumos, kā arī to cilvēku uztverē, kas uzskata kapsētu par ''tabu'' visādām atraktīvām izdarībām. Tā, kā no juridiskās puses skatoties, ja netiek čurāts uz krustiem, vai kas rakts ārā, tad nekāda apgānīšana nenotiek, līdz ar to var rīkot, jo Lielie Kapi ja nemaldos ir sabiedrika telpa. Vienīgi pieņemu, ka var piesieties no juridiskā viedokļa no tā aspekta, ka tiek rīkots sabiedrisks pasākums un vajag pašvaldības saskaņojumu.

In Czech Republic I did this LARP not in kapi - only in park (private park around the XIX cent. villa) but I think this place (Lielie Kapi) is very good to make something. Usually I am very "pret" to do something in cementary but Lielie Kapi after communism time is not real kapi only park (or memorial park)... and daily there is 100 dogs!

One big plus (+) of this place is - SPACE. A lot of space! ...and good communication with centre (tramvaj no 11)

My LARP is without weapon (tikai 2 zobeni) and not very offensive. If somebody want to play or help me please contact me. Es domaju real term is middle of november or beggining of december (better dec. with snow...). In the end of november I will have concert in Warsaw and I will not be in Latvia. Of course I can not to do this LARP if there are some agruments against... Unfortunetelly I do not understand your previous argumentation (my latvian is still not very good).

it is not a very good place to make something, because nobody would let you to "make there something". you would have to get permission from local government (or smth) and I don`t think that they would give you this permission, because 1)its too public for such an activity, 2)I dont think that people, who live near there, would like that in their local park somethings going on like this : D 3) this memorial park takes a part in "zemes māte" project

but.. karosta is a very nice place XD but maybe too far from riga

tāpat tais kapos, tb parkā, katru dienu un naktīs cilvēki dzer, runā, bļaustās, pa reizie tur policija atbrauc, bet tā kā domājams larperi ar aliņu rokās neskraidīs, tad neko piesiet īpaši tur nevar.
